Skills required for a driving candidate
course graduate
Regulation of the Minister of
Infrastructure of 17th October 2005 states the requirements for a driver
training course graduate:
Addition no.3 to the Journal of Laws No.
217, item 1834 with added changes.
§ 2.1 The course graduate should posses the information, skills and
behaviour allowing for safely driving a vehicle, including at least:
Give proof of knowing and understanding:
- the need to be cautious and keep a correct attitude towards
other traffic participants,
- the rules of maintaining safe distance between vehicles, taking
into account driving in variable weather conditions, time and on
different types of roads,
- the effect on perception, decisions taken, reaction time or
change of drivers' behaviour caused by:
- alcohol or other substances of similar effect,
- change of emotional state,
- tiredness.
- dangers connected with the lack of experience of other traffic
participants, especially prone to risk, such as children, pedestrians, bicyclists
or people with motion impairments,
- dangers connected with traffic and driving different types
of vehicles in variable conditions,
- rules of using vehicle equipment connected with ensuring driving safety,
- rules of using the vehicle, transporting people and cargo, taking into
account the protection of environment,
- rules of traffic, especially connected with speed limits, right of way, signs
and signals and documents authorizing driving and using vehicles,
- rules of behaviour during taking part in a road accident and hazards connected
with the condition of road surface,
- tasks and assessment criteria of a national exam.
Have the ability to behave correctly when:
- preparing for driving ( connecting, disconnecting a trailer) - B+E,
C1+E, D+E, D1+E, T driving licence category,
- using the vehicle control mechanisms while driving and parking,
- entering traffic, taking a correct position on the road, respecting
the laws of other traffic participants and communicating with them by using
allowed means,
- safely performing maneuvers appropriate for various situations,
- observing the road and predicting real or potential threats,
- successfully reacting in case of a real threat, including emergency
braking from a speed that is appropriate for traffic,
- driving according to traffic laws,
- maintaining safety when exiting a vehicle,
- performing basic control and maintenance checks of the mechanisms
directly responsible for driving safety,
- taking actions in the range of pre-medical help to victims of traffic accidents.
Course graduate should also have the knowledge about:
- With A and A1 driving licence category:
- using protective gear (helmet, gloves, clothing),
- visibility of motorcyclists by other traffic participants,
- hazards connected with slippery elements of the roads ( manholes, tram rails).
- With C, C+E, C1, C1+E, D, D+E, D1, D1+E driving licence category
- rules regulating work and rest periods (the ability to correctly use
a tachograf),
- documents required in national and international transit of people and cargo,
- precautions taken in case of vehicle malfunction,
- planning driving routes, reading road maps,
- safety requirements connected with loading, displacement and fixing
the cargo: concerns C, C+E, C1, C1+E driving licence category,
- responsibilities and duties to transported passengers: concerns
D,D+E,D1,D1+E driving licence category,
- basic rules concerning construction, exploitation and maintenance
of basic driving mechanisms of a vehicle.
