THEORETICAL EXAM
The theoretical part of the national exam covers testing the
knowledge of traffic rules, driving techniques, basic actions of car inspection and service,
and rules and techniques of first aid.
The Theoretical exam takes place in the exam room, and is conducted in the form of:
- computer test - using an examining device,
- written test, in case of:
- applying for a permit,
- malfunction of the examining device that would make it impossible to conduct the exam
as specified in pt.1,
- the participant having a medical excuse with an annotation specifying conditions making
it unable for the participant to take the test as specified in pts 1 and 2;
- oral test - if:
- the participant does not speak any
language available in the examining device or
- the participant has a medical excuse with an annotation about a condition making
it unable to take the test as specified in pts 1 and 2.
After appearing for the exam, the participant's identity is checked by the
examiner and the examiner assigns an exam stand which the participant has to
take.
After the participants are assigned to
their stands, the examiner will explain the details of conducting the exam.
The Theoretical exam consists of a trial test, a basic test and a
specialized test or one of the above. The trial test is not marked and its'
duration will not exceed 5 minutes.
The proper test involves pointing out the
correct answers using the examining computer device. Each question has three
possible answers marked with letters A,B,C.
The duration of the exam and the numbers of
questions depend on the category of the driving license. For example to
obtain a driving license in the B,C or D category, the participant has to
answer 18 questions in a period of time no longer than 25 minutes.
After the exam, the computer analyzes the
answers given and displays information about:
- positive or negative result of the exam,
- maximum allowed number of incorrect answers,
- number of incorrect answers given by the participant,
- the amount and numbers of question, to which an incorrect answer has been given.
After achieving a positive result in the
theoretical exam (a positive result is required to take the practical exam)
the participant may take part in the practical exam, provided that the time
since passing the theoretical exam is not longer than 6 months. Otherwise,
the participant will have to take the theoretical exam again.
