According to the Traffic law, the qualification check is intended for:

1. People with authorization for driving a vehicle, granted by decision of the staroste:

   1. in case of justified doubts about their qualifications,

   2. by decision of provincial police commander, in case of exceeding the 24 penalty point limit for violation of traffic laws.

2. People applying for:

   1. reinstatement of driving priviledges suspended for more than 1 year or in case of loss of necessary qualifications,

   2. return of a driving licence or a tram driver;s license, previously suspended for more than one year.

Qualification check is conducted in the form of a national exam. Persons whose qualifications have been questioned by the staroste will be elligible to take one of the tests mentioned below (theoretical or practical).

The national exam consists of:

• theoretical and practical part - for persons referred for an exam by the provincial police commander, due to exceeding the 24 penalty point limit for traffic law violations, people applying for a reinstatement of driving priviledges or a tram driver's licence, previously suspended for more than one year or due to loss of necessary qualifications, and people applying for a return of a suspended driving licence or tram driver's licence, suspended for more than one year.

• theoretical or practical part - for persons whose qualifications have been questioned by the staroste.
